In safe hands

Nicole Vandeness, the centre co-ordinator, has been working at Treasure Island Child Care Centre since October 2000. She holds a diploma in children's services.

Gillian Cheetham, the assistant co-ordinator, has been at the centre for several years. She also holds a diploma in children's services.

Training opportunities

Staff are continually offered professional development and training. This strengthens their ability to:

• Evaluate programs and the environment
• Provide safe and hygienic environments
• Model basic hygiene skills to children
• Provide meals that meet dietary guidelines that are culturally diverse and safe for children with allergies
• Communicate effectively with peers, professionals and parents
• Ensure children are given the best opportunities

Management

The management committee consists of parents whose children attend the centre. They volunteer their time to ensure that the centre is operated at a high standard.
